On Dec 8 2015, under Project AIR 5428, the Commonwealth of Australia signed a contract with Lockheed Martin (LM) for the establishment of a Pilot Training System (PTS) to train Australian Defence Force (ADF) Fixed Wing Ab Initio Pilots and ADF Fixed Wing Qualified Flying Instructors. The PTS will replace the training capability currently being delivered through CT-4 and PC-9 aircraft at various locations around the country. LM is the Prime Contractor for Team 21 which also includes participation from Pilatus, as the aircraft and engineering services supplier, and Hawker Pacific, as the maintenance and in service support provider.
Nova is currently supporting the introduction into service of the PTS through the management of the Aircraft Type Certification, Service Release, Flight Training Device Qualification and PTS Verification and Validation programs on behalf of and for Team 21. This is an extensive program which will provide the ADF with a turnkey training solution that will be enduring and effective and which will prepare ADF pilots for their transition into 5th generation fighters and other advanced ADF aerospace platforms. Nova plays a pivotal role in supporting Team 21 in reducing risk to the program and ensuring that the ADF receives a PTS which is effective and efficient.
