Safety Assurance Support

Safety Assurance Support

Under the Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) Transport Access Program (TAP) initiative, the Secure Bicycle Parking Facilities project was formed to meet the Long Term Transport Master Plan ‘Bike and Ride Initiative’. The project will make it convenient for customers to ride to transport hubs, leave their bicycles securely locked up and transfer to public transport to continue their journey.

Bike Storage was engaged as the Managing Contractor of the Secure Bicycle Parking Facilities project and for the design and construction of new bicycle storage facilities to replace the existing bicycle lockers. The new storage facilities are located at nine key train stations throughout the Sydney region. Customers will be able to access and use these new facilities by registering for an Opal card. Bicycle sheds will be built into the design of new intermodal transport interchanges and commuter Secure Bicycle Parking Facilities.

Nova Systems was engaged by Bike Storage to provide services in the form of safety assurance support. Nova Systems assisted Bike Storage throughout the project in understanding the safety assurance process and provided Bike Storage with client consultations regarding safety assurance. Nova Systems also provided Bike Storage with hazard assessment and management support under the auspices of Nova Systems’ AEO engineering management system. Key safety assurance deliverables, including a System Safety Plan were delivered to the client’s satisfaction. Sites constructed by Bike Storage and supported by Nova Systems include Woy Woy, Blacktown, Campbelltown and Parramatta.
