Case Study: Royal Australian Air Force Advanced Airspace Battle Management

Australia’s fleet of six E-7A Wedgetail aircraft provides the Royal Australian Air Force with one of the most advanced airspace battle management capabilities in the world.

The Background

Nova Systems first began working with the Australian Defence Force in 2005 to write the Test and Evaluation master plan for the E-7A Wedgetail Boeing 737-700 IGW aircraft, which are now operated by No. 2 Squadron based at RAAF Base Williamtown, near Newcastle.

What We Do

Today, our team continues to build a wealth of Australian knowledge and experience, supporting the proceeding Test and Evaluation of the highly complex aircraft, achieving Initial Operational Capability in November 2012 and Full Operational Capability in May 2015.

"Our unique skills, including expertise in operational evaluation, an understanding of capability life cycles and having team members with first-hand experience operating the aircraft, has continued to grow in providing invaluable support for the program..”

Robert Saxton, Nova Systems Surveillance Program Manager Former Test and Operations Manager of the Wedgetail Project
