Renowned globally for their expertise in explosives, munitions, and guided weapons, Cranfield University brings a wealth of knowledge from diverse backgrounds including academia, defence, industry, research, and government establishments.
“This collaboration aims to address the specific needs of the Australian Defence Force and related industry partners supporting Australia’s Guided Weapon and Explosive Ordnance initiatives,” Claude Daniel, Nova Systems GWEO Portfolio Manager, said.

The Explosive Ordnance and Guided Weapon courses are designed to provide participants with contemporary technical content, enhancing their ability to contribute to both current and future acquisition and sustainment projects.
Three courses will be offered:
Introduction to Explosive Ordnance Awareness and Engineering Principles,
Propellants, Pyrotechnics, and Rocket Motors,
Ballistics, Delivery, and Guided Weapons.
They will cover a wide range of topics including the properties and applications of explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, and guided weapons, as well as the management, handling, classification, and testing of ordnance, munitions, and explosives. Additionally, principles of propulsion systems and explosives risk management will be thoroughly explored.
The first course commences in March 2025 and includes both face-to-face and virtual elements.
