By 2036, more than half of all Sydney residents will call Western Sydney home, a population shift that is pulling the heart of metropolitan Sydney to the west. The majority of the growth will be seen in Greater Parramatta to the Olympic Peninsula (GPOP), and primarily within several precincts including Westmead, Parramatta North, Parramatta CBD, Camellia, Telopea and Rydalmere.
A key element of the future transport network announced by the NSW Government is the development of the Parramatta Light Rail network. This $2.4 billion project will deliver a new light rail system for Western Sydney, with Stage 1 of this network the 12km alignment between Westmead and Carlingford, via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia.
Nova Systems is proud to be providing the engineering systems and safety assurance for the Infrastructure Works, on behalf of CPB Contractors and Downer EDI Works Joint Venture (CPBDJV). The Nova team are implementing two digital engineering tools that have been developed in-house, to manage the systems and safety assurance on this complex project – Requirements Assurance and Validation Suite (RAVS) and VirtuAssure. These two tools provide Nova the ability to efficiently and effectively manage the compliance and assurance requirements, and work in a more integrated fashion throughout the project.
As the project is approaching the Detailed Design Phase (DDR), these tools are proving invaluable to the project in ensuring quick turn-around times on verification activities and providing extracted reports for various submissions.
Nova Systems is implementing its valuable experience in rail safety by actively engaging with both the design joint venture (WSPA) and CPBDJV to develop the safety case in conjunction with other safety assurance activities for the Infrastructure Work of the Parramatta Light Rail Project.
