Challenge
Nova Systems were contracted to support the Remotely Piloted Air Systems Delivery Team (RPAS DT) in delivering safe and effective flight test and the introduction of a Full Mission Simulator for the Watchkeeper force.
Solution
Nova Systems provided immediate support to the Type Airworthiness Authority (TAA) and assisted the RPAS DT transition to the new Military Permit to Fly process.
The team provided support in reviewing the OEM test documentation and making safety and efficiency recommendations to enhance the test programme, as well as the review of the simulator Acceptance Test procedures and the Factory Acceptance Testing.
To further support RPAS, Nova Systems assisted in providing evidence and reports during negotiations with the OEM.
Nova Systems also supported the Army in defining test profiles - allowing them to conduct the testing required to support their submission for training approval by the ODH.
Outcome
The RPAS DT were able to challenge the OEMs testing procedures and processes with robust reports from their Independent T&E advisors.
Nova Systems advised the DT and the Army where the OEM was failing to meet their contractual obligations. Watchkeeper operators were able to have the technical support to articulate their concerns and provide advice on how the simulation device required improvement to meet their requirements.
