Media Release - Nova Systems consortium with AGI OneSky awarded funding for UAV Package Delivery
- Aug 1, 2018
A consortium led by Nova Systems in close collaboration with OneSky, a business unit of Analytical Graphics Inc. (AGI), has been awarded funding from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Ministry of Transport, to develop technological capabilities in UAV Traffic Management (UTM) and UAV based package delivery in urban environments.
The funding was awarded as a result of the consortium’s submission to a Call-for-Proposal (CFP) seeking to develop systems and technologies to enable the innovative and wide-ranging use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in Singapore’s urban environment.
Nova System’s proposal, in collaboration with AGI OneSky, Nanyang Technological University’s Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI), M1 Limited and Scout Aerial, includes the following elements:
- Implementation and configuration of OneSky’s UTM prototype suitable for Singapore
- A suite of trials to ultimately demonstrate a wide-scale, BVLOS (beyond-visual-line-of-sight), multi-UAV, multi-site product delivery demonstration with other leading industry partners.
- Research and development in enabling areas such modelling and analysis of network coverage, applying communications, and surveillance (CNS) principles for route design. These will provide insights to the maturation of the OneSky UTM system, enabling beneficial use of UAS in Singapore.
Managing Director of Nova Systems Singapore – Ryan Lee said, ‘We have been working with smart businesses and progressive government agencies to tackle the problems of tomorrow, such as operating UAS’ in limited airspace and urban environments. With this funding, we are delighted to be focusing on enabling the innovative use of UAS’ in Singapore’s urban environment and look forward to working closely with CAAS to advance the UAS industry in Singapore.’
The project will run from 1 October.
